19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

His retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet defended four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
